What’s In a Name?

Posted by: Christina  /  Category: Uncategorized

I’ve been surfing the blog world a bit this afternoon and stumbled upon this cool what-does-your-name-mean-thing over at Educational Toy Factory

Like any other horoscope/entertainment thing of this type, it’s not spot on. I definitely would not consider myself one to get into “fun trouble”. If anything, I’m the goodie-goodie who was always dubbed “teacher’s pet”. But there are other facts/descriptions that are pretty close.

What Christina Means

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.
You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.
A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable. You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.
Success comes rather easily for you… especially in business and academia.
Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You’re a strong person.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You’re always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can’t handle you. You’re very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you’re likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It’s easy to get you excited… which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don’t stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are the total package – suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don’t always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don’t have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless – and you have a lot of questions about life.
You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You’re most comfortable when you’re far away from home.
You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic “Type A” personality.

Turn Your Brain On Instead of the TV

Posted by: Christina  /  Category: Education

Wanted to let you all know about a cool new feature over at the Educational Toy Factory blog: Thursday Thinker.

My kids have gotten into the bad habit of immediately turning the tv on when they walk in the door from school. They’ll both give me the abbreviated version of their day at school then it’s tv. Not proud of it, that’s just the pattern we seem to have established.

Today I plan on throwing them a curveball by printing out the Thinker Thursday puzzle and having them solve it instead of watching television. That ought to put them in a really good mood, especially since after homework we have to write overdue thank you cards for our Christmas gifts.

I can hear the groaning now!

Reflecting on My Weirdness in 2008

Posted by: Christina  /  Category: Uncategorized

Phew…what a month! December nearly got the best of me but I’m happy to say we all had a wonderful, relaxing Christmas break. And now here we are, starting another new year.

My friend and life coach extradorinaire Aurelia Williams has tagged me to tell 7 Weird Things about myself. Personally, I prefer to think of my “weird things” as eccentricities but hey, I’ll play along!

First, I have to share the rules of the game:

1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself
4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog

OK, let the honesty begin!

1. I am convinced that I was a Broadway star in another life; I know all the words to the songs from the classic musicals and don’t EVEN try talking during the show if you’re sitting behind me!

2. I can’t stand seeing kids’ hair in a tangled mess. I can thank my mom for that one!

3. My friend Heather introduced me to the fun of dipping our fries into blue cheese dressing while we worked long hours at Friendly’s during college.

4. I sometimes put maple syrup on my eggs. My brothers and I discovered that treat a LONG time ago when we went out for breakfast. My mom thinks it’s gross.

5. Much to my husband’s dismay, I don’t mind listening to soft oldies like The Carpenters, Neil Diamond or John Denver.

6. I don’t mind going to my OB/GYN appointments. Hey, my doc is cute and if you gotta do that anyway, you may as well have a cutie for a doctor!

7. I love going to the dentist. Not because he’s cute but because I love the feel of clean teeth!

OK, now you fine folks are officially tagged to play this game:

Joanna

Cara

Patrysha

Latara
