How to Use Story of the World History Curriculum

Story of the World Curriculum helps teach your child history in an easy and kid-friendly way

Story of the World: Book 1 Ancient Times

Begin your journey in the time of Moses…

….and continue from the earliest people to Ancient Egypt as you go through the world history to Roman times. Each chapter in this thick hardcover text takes the child on a historical journey using a few simple concepts and explaining them through fun storytelling. I highly recommend getting the workbook that accompanies this textbook. It is a game-changer.

Not only does this book reinforce ancient history concepts in a fun and creative way but it also adds educational depth to the concept in a kid-friendly format. There is a test booklet that comes with this curriculum but we have not yet utilized that due to the age of our children. We also have found that testing them over the material has not been necessary. The workbook contains a plethora of detailed questions and activities to reinforce the information in a more informal way of assessment.

Although the book may be hard for small hands to hold due to its small and compressed binding, it possesses the content that is interwoven with concrete Biblical truths of how the world truly began. Well worth the investment, we have found this sturdy curriculum to be beneficial in many unexpected ways.

Over time it has taught our children the fundamental historical content we have long desired. And it has also provided insight into many concepts we did not know about. We find ourselves learning new ideas too!

How you want to spread out the curriculum in a week or month is up to you but we preferred doing a chapter a week. Typically that was feasible due to the chapters being short in this first book (average 2-5 pages per chapter) and the information limited to two or three concepts to remember. It is geared towards early elementary students (depending on their reading level) and can easily be completed in a week. However, the design of the curriculum is such that it could easily be spread out across two weeks.
